It was released in 1998 and was a about an ant named Z, who wanted reconcile himself by showing his work-ethic in the ant colony. this movie was rendered about 15 time during production, probably meaning that they were not used to computer generated movies. This was also the first time that making a computer generated movie. They tried to imagine the world from the ants perspective. The people were not thinking about how small the ants were but were thinking of how "big" the ants world was. The production process made the technology more advanced in order to make the making of the movie easier and more efficient. |
| The Prince Of Egypt This is a story of two brother named Moses and Ramses, one a royal blood and the other an orphan with a secret past. It is a story based off of a book in the bible where the two brother be set apart in a way. During the process of making the movie, the people who were producing the movie were challenged with the question of how are they going to meet the picture quality that they wanted. They intention was to use multiple techniques to make what looked like a traditional hand-drawn movie. They wanted to integrate 2D, 2D/CGI, and 3D CGI into the movie, but make it fluid and have the film flow nicely so that the people wouldn't really notice the different techniques that they used. They would make the core scene out of hand-drawn picture but to make more complicated and calculated scene events like dust storms and light rays, they would use 2D/CGI. 2D/CGI was used in this movie to enhance the back lighting effects and the light erosion. There was a need to build props and other objects in the movie, and they used 3D/CGI to complete that task. When there was a scene with a large crowd they would use the technology and software that they wrote to animate each person one by one. They would combine these 3D people with the 2D animations. |
| Kung Fu Panda Kung Fu Panda, released in 2008, is about a panda, named Po, who always dreamed of becoming a "kung fu warrior" and ends up becoming just that. They teamed up with the company HP to be able to make the film making process much more efficient and stronger. They wanted to make the people watching the story to be related emotionally and be able to connect to Po and Master Shifu. One challenge that they faced was that each picture was very high in pixels, people were kind of surprised because of that. This movie was supposed to be a very artistic style movie and they needed that the power to be able to render the movie. This was the biggest opening for a non-sequel and the largest grossing film during the year of release. When in the process of making the movie, the people even went to china to study what the scenes would look like. The whole production team took martial arts classes to be able to understand what the action scenes would be like making the action scenes more realistic. There were people from all over the world to make the movie the best it could be. |
